An unbranched (often elongate) inflorescence, consisting of flowers borne on pedicels, in which maturation of the individual flowers begins at the base of the inflorescence, and proceeds to the tip.  The flowering sequence for most species in the Composite family is the reverse:  from top/tip to base.  See below.

Raceme-like:  Having the appearance of a raceme, but not conforming strictly to the definition of a raceme.

The inflorescence shown above is "raceme-like", since the flower heads are maturing from the tip of the branch, rather than from the base of the branch.
