Basally Oriented

.

.
A pattern of leaf distribution, in which a plant's largest leaves are the basal leaves, and the mid- to upper-stem leaves become  progressively smaller toward the summit of the stem. When leaves are basally-oriented, leaf shape may also vary by position on the stem.  For example, stem leaves may become narrower, smaller and/or less prominently lobed or toothed toward the summit of the stem.
