Plants of dry to mesic, rich woodlands and forests.  Flowers  August to September.  Native.  Our plants are:

[ Eutrochium purpureum (L.) E. E. Lamont var. purpureum ]

Perennial.  Typical height is from 3 to 4 feet.

Inflorescences are   

Flower heads are discoid.  Ray florets are lacking.  Disc florets are pink to whitish, tubular, bisexual and fertile.
