Plants of wet open areas, such as roadside ditches, low meadows, stream banks, pond margins.  Flowers August to September.  Native.  Our plants are:

[ Eutrochium maculatum  (L.)  E. E. Lamont  var.  maculatum ]

Perennial.  Typical height is from 3 to 5+ feet.

Inflorescences are   

Flower heads are of discoid.  Ray florets are lacking.  Disc florets are pink to magenta, tubular, bisexual and fertile.

Similar species:  other members of the genus Eutrochium.
